There’s something about Oxford that feels a little magical.

Maybe it’s the honey-coloured buildings, bicycles passing through cobbled streets, tiny cafés tucked between colleges, or the feeling that every doorway has a story behind it.

You don’t need a packed itinerary to enjoy it. Give yourself a weekend, a comfortable pair of shoes and plenty of time to wander.

Here’s how we’d spend a lovely 48 hours in Oxford.

Friday evening | Hello, Oxford!

Drop your bags, settle in and make yourself at home.

At Museum Residence Oxford, 107a St Aldates, you’re already in the heart of the city, so your Oxford weekend can begin the moment you step outside.

Keep your first evening simple. Wander through the historic streets, get your bearings and find somewhere cosy for dinner.

Our tip? Don’t plan every minute. Some of the best Oxford moments happen when you simply see where the streets take you.

Saturday morning | The Oxford you came to see

Start with coffee. Always coffee. ☕️

Then head out for a morning filled with Oxford classics.

Walk towards Christ Church, admire the beautiful Radcliffe Camera, explore the historic streets around the colleges and spend some time near the Bodleian Library.

This is the Oxford of postcards, and it’s even prettier in person.

Saturday lunchtime | A little local flavour

Make your way to the Covered Market, one of Oxford’s most charming spots.

Stop for lunch, pick up something sweet or browse the independent shops before heading back out into the city.

Take your time. You’re on Oxford time now.

Saturday afternoon | Choose your mood

Feeling cultural? Spend the afternoon exploring the Ashmolean Museum.

Feeling curious? Browse Oxford’s bookshops and independent stores.

Feeling relaxed? Find a cosy café, order something delicious and simply watch the city go by.

And if the weather is kind, a peaceful walk along the river is always a lovely idea.

Saturday evening | Oxford after dark

Head back to your room, freshen up and then step straight back into the city.

Find somewhere special for dinner, discover a traditional Oxford pub or take a slow evening walk past the colleges once the daytime crowds begin to disappear.

There’s something especially beautiful about Oxford at night.

And when you’re ready to call it a day, Museum Residence Oxford is just a stroll away.

Sunday | One last Oxford morning

No alarms if you can help it.

Grab breakfast and coffee, then spend your final few hours doing something gentle.

Visit the Oxford Botanic Garden, stroll beside the river, return to that little café you spotted yesterday or simply wander through the city one more time.

Before you leave, take one last look around.

Chances are, you’ll already be thinking about your next visit.

Your Oxford stay starts here

One of the best things about staying in central Oxford is that the city is right outside your door.

Museum Residence Oxford is located at 107a St Aldates, surrounded by the history, architecture, cafés, museums and colleges that make Oxford so special.

Check in. Drop your bags. Step outside.

Oxford is waiting.
